Montebello Police Brutality - 18M

Montebello, Quebec. August 20 2007.
Hundreds of people headed to Montebello Quebec to protest the meeting of Bush, Harper and Calderon and to attempt to shut down the Security and Prosperity Partnership secret talks. As the heads of state of North America started their summit along with the corporate leaders of the major corporations in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, people brought their message of resistance to the front gate of Chateau Montebello. While the CEOs members of the NACC (North American Competitiveness Council) will have the undivided attention of the three "amigos", people from across the continent are being left out of an undemocratic and secretive process that will affect the livelihoods of millions across Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
Buses headed to Montebello this morning from Ottawa, Montreal and other cities in the region and joined a massive demonstration at the front gates of "Fortress Montebello". A three meter fence and hundreds of full riot gear equiped police stood in between people and those who claim to represent them. Police wasted no time and engaged in their common state-sponsored violence from the onset. Pepper spray, tear-gas and rubber bullets seemed to be the theme of the day. But people's determination seems unwavering, and although as the day went on the police only increased their violence, people continued their resistance.
Saty tuned for further udates, more reports and video to come...
